Château Brown Lamartine, Bordeaux Supérieur

A parcel of the Grand Cru Classé, Château Cantenac Brown, is located on the Bordeaux Appellation. It spreads over 5 ha and is planted in Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for 50% each.

The wine created on these lands located at the entrance of the village of Cantenac had first been named “Château Lamartine” and became “Château Brown Lamartine” in 1993.

It is said that Alphonse de Lamartine (1790-1869), winemaker in the French region of Macon, was friend and neighbour on the bank of the French “Assemblée Nationale” with the owner of Château Cantenac Brown, Armand Lalande. To honour him, he gave his name to this vineyard.

Château Brown Lamartine is harvested by hand, grapes are sorted in the vineyard and at the entrance of the cellar before being vinified with the same care as for the Grand Cru Classé by the team of Château Cantenac Brown. It is then aged 12 months in oak barrels that have previously been used to age the Grand Cru Classé in Margaux.

It is a pleasant, round wine, with soft tannins and red berries flavours in mouth. This is a wine you should enjoy from 3 to 7 years old with meats or cheese.
