2022

Mother Nature likes to remind us periodically that she is the master of the game when it comes to great vintages. 2022 is a perfect example.

Our concern for perfection allows us to accompany, influence and shape as best we can what she gives us, but it is clear that the combination of climatic factors remains the key to a great vintage. Fortunately for us, winegrowers, the vine is an incredibly resistant plant.

The heat of the sun and the limited water resources have forced it to hold its breath and to draw from the depths of the soil the elements necessary for its survival.

Our accompaniment to the vineyard has adapted: lighter leaf thinning to protect the bunches from the sun during the hot periods, shallow soil work to limit evaporation, controlled grassing, sometimes eliminated in certain plots to preserve the water supply to the vines, the balance of the soil… a real precision work, reasoned and adapted to these unprecedented conditions. All the data are gathered for an exceptional vintage!

The expectation of ideal ripeness and perfect balance, with the berries getting lighter by the day, has neverthelessput our nerves to the test, but that is the price to pay for producing a rare vintage! We opted for a low temperature vinification (25°C), with gentle and moderate extractions in order to preserve the great phenolic potential of the grapes. The grapes reveal all their flavour, their brilliance and offer a beautiful creaminess. The Merlots are incredibly dense and structured, while the Cabernet Sauvignons have an unprecedented concentration and energy.
The 2022 already has everything of an historic vintage by its exceptional character. Will it become iconic?
